With the arrival of summer, many music events will kick off this summer period, SummerDaze Festival undoubtedly stands out.
This annual event is back in action in August with a program featuring popular artists. Can you give us an overview of the SummerDaze festival, its history, goals and impact on Malta’s music and tourism scene?
Trevor Camilleri, Gerald Debono and Nicholas Spitteri This year will be the fourth edition of SummerDaze Festival Malta and every year it is only getting bigger. The festival revolves around two main events. Aimed at travelers from the UK and mainland Europe, the first day, in collaboration with Creamfields and BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthems X, has attracted top performers including Rita Ora, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Anne-Marie, Jason Derulo and this year’s highly anticipated Black Eyed Peas and Zara Larsson. The second main day, in collaboration with M20 Radio, is aimed at the Italian market as well as tourists on the island. SummerDaze offers Islanders the opportunity to watch top international artists perform live and experience a world class festival on our beaches. The fact that the festival runs for an entire week means that attendees will have the opportunity to attend daily events around the island, such as club nights with VIPs such as Paul Kalkbrenner and Shiva at Uno, Meduza at the front of Café Del Mar, a huge pool party at Splash & Fun, as well as a boat party around the Maltese Islands. »

What are the main characters of the event this year, such as the expected number of attendees, the number of UNO concerts, festivals and entertainment events?
SummerDaze includes two main days, three Uno parties with international artists, a pool party with the iconic Meduza, a huge party at Splash & Fun, as well as a themed boat party around the island. According to last year’s figures, the festival is supposed to receive 50,000 people. »

What are the most represented nationalities among visitors to last year’s festival? What specifically attracts these visitors and how does the festival meet their expectations?
“Most visitors are from the UK and Europe (French/Spanish/Italian). Between the festival and the island experience during the height of summer, Malta caters to all the needs young travelers are looking for on a summer trip.”
Do you work collaboratively with the local community and what are the advantages of emerging artists?
“All of our shows feature multiple local artists and DJs performing on the same stage as the headliners. We are also in talks to grow the sector through a series of workshops and sessions that will continue to build an ecosystem and cement Malta on the international music map.”
Can you tell us about the great artists participating in SummerDaze this year? What are the criteria for selecting international stars and DJs?
This year, household names like The Black Eyes Peas, Farruko, Zara Larsson and D-Block Europe will headline our first main event on August 15th, followed by Salmo, Elettra Lamborghini, Fred De Palma, Haddaway, DeeJay Time and Double You at our second main event on August 18th. To support these two main events, a series of space events will take place on the island throughout the week. Younger. How is SummerDaze different from other music and dance festivals on the Mediterranean island?
“SummerDaze is the only festival whose headlines are spread over two days. The attendance at such a festival is still the largest ever on the island.”
How has Band 356 changed the music and tourism scene in Malta? What are your greatest achievements to date?
356 kicked off a festival in 2014, Lost & Found, which brought 8,000 Brits to our island for a few days of music, sun and fun. Today we host over 6 festivals in terms of festival tourism with over 26,000 people traveling to Malta, staying a total of over 158,400 nights, and leaving millions in the Maltese economy through the multiplier effect. »

Also tell us about Uno and how it has evolved over the years. What’s next for the club and how do you expect it to become a global figure in the coming years?
In addition to being the largest outdoor club in Malta, Uno has become very sought after by the local scene and has become a center for festival tourism in Malta. Our goal is not only to put Uno on the map attracting the biggest names in the local music scene, but also to continue to develop the club into a major hub in the Mediterranean. We measure our success against international venues and hope UNO continues to attract top artists who choose our club year after year. »
How do you plan to continue to be at the forefront of events and nightlife in Malta?
The 356 Group will continue to invest in improving the tourism product by entering into many collaborations and attracting the largest companies, artists and festivals such as Live Nation, Fisher and Defected respectively, in order to continue to highlight Malta on the international map. »
