The establishment announced Thursday that Fleur Restaurant in Mandalay Bay will close its doors on June 30. With the closure, a little bit of Las Vegas restaurant history also goes through.
The restaurant debuted in 2005 as Fleur de Lys, the Vegas location of the famous San Francisco restaurant by celebrity chef Hubert Keller with its signature tent roof. At one time this San Francisco native was considered one of the best fine dining restaurants in the country, and it only made sense to bring that reputation to Vegas.
By 2010, the Fleur de Lys here had evolved into a more casual concept known as Fleur by Hubert Keller, which offered a seasonally changing menu of French regional cuisine.
Flor by Hubert Keller closed during the pandemic, and in January 2021 the chef severed ties with Flor by Hubert Keller and with Burger Bar, his other Mandalay Bay location. MGM Resorts took over, renaming the restaurant Fleur. It currently serves a steakhouse menu consisting of seafood cuts and traditional appetizers such as shrimp cocktail and wedge salad.
Mandalay Bay said in its announcement that another yet-to-be-named restaurant concept will replace Fleur.
The closure follows Retro by Voltaggio, by chef brothers and stars Michael and Brian Voltaggio, Top Chef, which launched in early May at the former Aureole, which chef Charlie Palmer celebrated opening in Mandalay Bay in 1999. Flanker Kitchen, a new generation A sports bar with a ceiling fixture that pays homage to the Formula 1 Grand Prix track, opening June 10 on the property.
