Always looking for players to bolster its workforce to better prepare for the upcoming season, RC Vannes have announced the signing of Sione Kalamafoni. The striker, who plays this season for Scarlets, has signed a two-season deal from this summer with FC Morbihan.

For several weeks, Breton leaders have been working continuously to recruit players with different profiles. After Jules Le Bail who will soon return to Morbihan and youngster Paul Surano who will join his new team this summer, the club has formalized the arrival of multi-talented striker Sione Kalamafoni. The Tongan international (37 caps) initialed a binding contract with RC Fan until 2025. At the peak of his 34-year-old age, he thus decided to discover a new championship and could be a great boost to Jean-Noel Spitzer.

Sione Kalamafoni will be Vannetais

While he began his professional career in 2010 with Nottingham (English second division), the Matthau native quickly rose through the ranks thanks to his impressive physical qualities (1m96 for 120km). An indisputable player with the green and white within two seasons, he then discovered the elite in English rugby with Gloucester and then Leicester Tigers.

A versatile striker, capable of playing the second or third line, Sione Kalamafoni has also played three World Cup Finals (2011, 2015 and 2019) in a row with Tonga. He has worn the Scarlets jersey since 2020, a Welsh county playing in the United Rugby League. The Thirties also held fifteen TCC meetings for two attempts this season. We hope that he will be able to live up to the expectations placed on him.
