For the first time in its history, Brittany will host the Military Rugby World Cup from 16th August to 10th September 2023. Twelve delegations are expected to bid to succeed the Fijians as selection winners of the competition.

Blues will be rated
Host country status allows France to be seeded. Fiji, will be world champions just like England. Only players can be selected, gendarmes, or assigned to another military corps. In the last two competitions, the 15th Army of France took third place. Four years ago in Japan, Giles Swarat’s players crossed the pools with two wins against the host country (19-3) and Papua New Guinea (71-0). In the semi-finals, they then suffered a heavy setback against England (34-10). However, the French team recovered against New Zealand to win the bronze medal (10-5).
France shines in military rugby
This year, the Blues will try to do as well as pick the women who won the world title last November against New Zealand (9-8). French teams used to shine in military rugby in the fifteenth, but also in the seventh. The Tricolores team achieved excellent results with a second place in the men’s category after defeat in the final against the United Kingdom (24-10). On the women’s side, they won the World Cup after a huge victory over the British (24-12). Let’s hope that our teams from France, who will compete at the end of summer, will achieve the same success.
