On Saturday evening, REC faced France Avenir 2024 during the 15th day of the Ligue B.

The Fréjus (3-0) won their last match, and this weekend REC traveled to Montpellier to take on the young hopes of French volleyball. Last in Ligue B with only a small point in the space of fourteen games, France Avenir 2024 should in theory pose no problem for Quentin Marion’s men. And even if they escaped a round, the Breitlin team managed to score a win (3-1), which is important from an accounting point of view.

First round in one direction

As might be expected, the Récistes immediately imposed their superiority. With a very good lead by Angel Rodriguez in fine form, they blazed a first gap (11/6) before increasing their control to win the first set (25/14). Then the match started in the best way possible, especially after obtaining the second round (23/25). But Héraultais then showed the beginnings of an awakening.

France Avenir wins the third round

Inaccurate, chained Raines errors out in the third set to the delight of the locals who quickly took the lead (8/3). And the young candidates have shown resources to handicap REC players. Aggressive in attack and steady in mass, they won the round (25/20) while the excitement returned to suspense.

However, the Bretonians used themselves in the fourth group to tame the rebellion of their opponents. The two teams then engaged in a sweet encounter as Nathan Canovas countered Angel Rodriguez. Finally it was Ren who won the match by forcing (27/25) a more or less logical victory (3-1). With this good result, Felipe Toytoga’s teammates moved up to fifth place in the championship.
