For classical music lovers, this is the most wonderful time of the year.
The Classic Cheam Vista Concert Season (CVCC) is scheduled to begin February 13 at Riverside Church (7452 Morrow Road) in Agassiz. The upcoming concert will feature the One, Two Trio with special guest Alan Matheson.
The One, Two Trio features the talents of Kathryn Evans (trumpet), Valerie Whitney (French horn) and Jeremy Berkman (trombone). The trio was founded at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic with hopes of bringing chamber music abroad, where listeners could hear soft tones from a safe distance.
The One, Two Trio have recorded performances for the Schools’ Chamber Music Program and recently performed as part of the University of British Columbia’s Wednesday Noon Hour and at Maple Ridge Theater Performance Series. ACT.
In addition to their upcoming local shows, Evans, Whitney and Berkman will perform at Langley and the University of Lethbridge in Alberta.
Matheson is a pianist, trumpeter, composer and arranger from Vancouver. He currently teaches in the music departments at UBC, Vancouver Community College, and Capilano University. Matheson graduated from Northwestern University in Illinois and his music appears on at least 10 albums.
Other performers slated to perform on the local stage this concert season include the Elektra Women’s Choir on March 11, the Kerbogen Trio on April 25, and the Calista Trio on November 2.
Doors open at 6:30 PM for all CVCC performances and performances beginning at 7:00 PM.
The CVCC Association was created in November 2016 with the goal to “bring quality live classical music to our small town”.
