Recalled from his loan with Bastia-Borgo, Josué Escartin will end the season with Brest, his training club. Here are 3 things to know about the 19-year-old France international.
Trained at Stade Brestois
Josué Escartin started playing football in his hometown, Fleury-les-Aubrais. At the age of 12, he joined USM Saran where he spent 3 seasons before joining Finistère in 2018. On Breton land, the central defender found his marks and became one of the executives of the U19 team. with which he reached the semi-finals of the national championship in 2022.
From the height of his 1m93, he took part in all the meetings of the reserve team during the last season. His performances caught the eye of Michel Der Zakarian who called on the 19-year-old Frenchman for the preparation matches. He signs his first professional contract this summer until 2025.
His performances with the Ty-Zefs reserve team and the epic with the U19s allowed him to reach the France U19 team. Led by Landry Chauvin, former coach of SB29, the defender is called up several times with the national team. Although he does not play in international competition, the Brestois takes part in various matches against reserves from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs such as Stade Rennais, Paris FC and SM Caen.
A shortened loan
Despite his hasty return to Brittany, Josué Escartin had become an important player for Bastia-Borgo in a few months. He played 12 games including 8 as a starter as well as 2 Coupe de France matches. He cannot prevent the bad start to the season for the Corsican team, the current worst defense in the National Championship. The French international returns to Brittany with the aim of earning his place in Éric Roy’s group, especially since the Breton technician has to do without Brendan Chardonnet, absent from the pitch for at least two weeks.
