Arrived in Finistère during the summer of 2019, Irvin Cardona never managed to win with Stade Brestois. At the end of the contract next June and very little used this season, the versatile striker has decided to continue his career on the Augsburg side.
After Jere Uronen left for Schalke 04 earlier this month, it’s Irvin Cardona’s turn to pack his bags for Germany. A time tracked by AS Saint-Etienne, he finally signed up with FC Augsburg, the current 14th in the Bundesliga which is in the midst of a fight to stay in the top flight. With only six months of contract left in Cardona, the Breton club still managed to pocket a sum of around one million euros for this sale.
A disappointing record for Irvin Cardona
The adventure of the native of Nîmes had however started very well with the Ty-Zefs. Indisputable holder during his first year in the Brest jersey, he had been decisive 10 times (7 goals and 3 assists) before the Covid came to end the season prematurely. Unfortunately, the player trained at AS Monaco never managed to confirm.
He subsequently had to settle for a role as a luxury substitute under the orders of Michel Der Zakarian. And despite recent coaching changes, Irvin Cardona has only played 225 minutes since the start of the season. At 25, he therefore decided to take his career back in hand by signing a contract with Augsburg.
