Quimper qualifies for the play-offs in the elite, easy victory for women, Sison St-Brieuc returns to the podium

by admin

It’s a perfect weekend getaway for our Breton Elite clubs. Among the women, Quimper validated its play-off qualification thanks to its success against the Federal Institute (3-0) while Clamart winner REC (3-0) is still in the running to qualify. Among men, Sison Saint-Brieuc beat Chalons-sur-Saone (3-1).

Quimper wins his ticket to the playoffs

Traveling to the Federal Institute, Quimper wanted to win this match in style against the Red Lanterns. And this was done with a score of 3-0 against the future talents of French volleyball. A successful and serious performance ensured that François-Xavier Garnon’s players qualified for the play-offs. However, the regular season is not over yet. There are 3 matches left for Fenistein to gain maximum confidence and above all to maintain this second place in the standings with 25 points. Bordeaux, third with 24 points and Évreux, fourth with 23 points, are just waiting for a wrong move by the Kimberois to regain second place.

The REC female gives herself the right to dream

Three days before the end of the Elite Women’s Championship, the REC can still secure a spot for the playoffs. To achieve this goal, Louise Narbonne’s partners had to win this weekend against Clamart. It took just over an hour for Britton to win the first three sets. So the contract is fulfilled, Breitlin can now prepare to receive the leader, the Saint-Denis-de-Vosges. A crucial meeting because if Yann Chubilleau’s players do not win this match, they will probably be able to say goodbye to the play-offs.

Sison Saint-Brieuc does the job

Facing Châlons-sur-Saône, an opponent who lacks confidence, this meeting looked like a trap match for the Brioches. But thanks to a serious and tireless start to the match, Valentine Brook’s players took the first two sets within 40 minutes (25–18; 25–16). Then, unfortunately, Breton eased, allowing Chalonnais to win the third set and return to the match (25-15).

It was even the locals who led the dance during the fourth set, even if the costarmoricans returned while they were tied (18-18). Then, at the end of an exciting round, Mateo Ugas’ teammates won the exciting fourth set (31-28), synonymous with victory. With three new points, the players of Sisson Saint-Brieuc, second with 22 points, are still in a very good position to qualify for the play-offs. The next meeting is in Steerden against Grenoble, the last in the tournament with only two wins in 11 matches.
