Riyadh – International soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season Stars team in an exhibition match against French champions Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday.
Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the General Entertainment Authority, posted a video clip on Twitter handing Ronaldo the captain’s armband in Riyadh.
The Riyadh Season Cup will be held on January 19 at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh. The Riyadh Season Stars team, consisting of 11 teams from Al-Nasr and Al-Hilal clubs, is scheduled to play an exhibition match against Paris Saint-Germain.
The match raises the intriguing possibility of contracting with the new Al-Nasr team, Cristiano Ronaldo, to face his long-time rival and Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi, after winning the World Cup with Argentina last month.
