The Briochin transfer window continues. After the arrivals of Amir Nouri and Hicham Benkaid, the Breton club announced the signing of Youssoupha Ndiaye. The central defender is on loan from Paris FC until the end of the season. Here are 3 things to know about the 25-year-old Senegalese.
Youssoupha Ndiaye finds his former coach
Trained in the Lyon region, the 1m90 central defender began his career at Lyon La Duchère. He played his first minutes with the first team in National during the 2017-2018 season and blossomed under the eyes of a certain… Karim Mokeddem, coach of the Rhône-Alpes club between 2014 and 2019. The two men played for two seasons together under the colors red and yellow. And during the summer of 2020, Youssoupha Ndiaye left his native region to join Paris FC. In total, he will have played 69 games in the Lyon jersey for 3 goals and 2 assists.
A first injury that slows his progress
His first steps in Ligue 2 are successful since the defender earns his place as a holder. Very quickly, Youssoupha Ndiaye confirmed the hopes placed in him and became an important element in René Girard’s team. But his ascent was stopped following a fracture of the 2nd and 3rd metacarpus of his left hand in January 2021. Following his operation and a long rehabilitation, he found his way back to the field after several months of absence.
It remains on a white season
During the summer of 2021, the Senegalese suffered a terrible ankle injury. A new setback for the defender of Paris FC who did not play any meeting with the first team last season. Although he has not turned back the lawns of Ligue 2, the 25-year-old player took part in a few meetings in National 3. His arrival in the Côtes-d’Armor should allow him to earn playing time in a championship he knows very well. Karim Mokeddem should therefore quickly call on his former player for the next meeting of the Griffons, this Friday against Paris 13.
