In a crazy end to the game, FC Lorient conceded a 2–2 draw against AS Monaco on the 18th day of Ligue 1. Dango Ouattara and Terem Moffi found the net while Vito Mannone was saved three times by his crossbar.
Yoann Cathline and Dango Ouattara, the Lorient arrows
In all good moves, the two Merlus wingers allowed the Morbihan club to completely overturn the match. As the Bretons headed for defeat, Dango Ouattara had him decide otherwise. The right winger electrified the end of the game and Moustoir by equalizing with a header (1-1, 75th) after a corner he had obtained himself. He did it again a minute later by slipping a love ball to Terem Moffi who concluded perfectly (2-1, 77th). The Burkinabé could even have sealed the victory in added time, but he missed his face-to-face with Alexandre Nubel. Stirring on the front of the attack, his attacking partner, Yoann Cathline has often managed to overwhelm Vanderson. He also created many striking situations (3) without succeeding in worrying the ASM goalkeeper.
Laurent Abergel, the launch pad
Absent from the field at the end of the first part of the season, the captain of the Hakes was very prominent this evening against the Monegasques. A real launching pad, it is from him that FCL’s many counter-attacks started. The number 6 from Lorient has done a constant job in front of his defense.
FC Lorient still hooks a direct competitor at home
After bringing down Lyon and Lille at Moustoir earlier in the season, the Bretons held off a fine Monegasque team tonight. If they had a happy success until the very end of the match, the Hakes will still easily settle for a point. With this draw, Enzo Le Fée’s teammates remain 6th and come back just two points from their neighbor Rennes. In three days, the FCL will challenge Marseille at the Vélodrome stadium.
A feverish defense saved by the crossbar of Vito Manonne
Like their last outings, the Bretons once again proved to be fragile in the defensive sector. If Vito Mannone is doing well tonight with two goals in the bag (goals from Breel Embolo and Wissam Ben Yedder for ASM) it’s thanks to his crossbar. The Monegasques had bad luck by hitting 3 times on the uprights of the last rampart of FCL. Without a significant bit of success, the men of Régis Le Bris would surely have conceded defeat tonight.
