This weekend, Quimper Volley 29 dominated Evreux (3-1) in the women’s elite class, and REC tamed Saint-Quentin (3-2), captain of Ligue B. Back to all our Bretons club results in volleyball.
Great performance from Quimper Volley 29
This weekend Quimper Évreux hosted a top-of-the-table match between two serious contenders for the top of the table. And despite the reduction in the workforce due to injuries, the Finestren team was able to achieve a very important success in the race for the playoffs (3-1). They dominated in the first round, then scared each other towards the end of the match before doing the job. Thanks to this impressive victory, François-Xavier Garnon’s daughters are now second in the women’s elite and have room to maneuver in the upcoming meetings.
Conversely, the REC players may have just drawn a bottom line under potential play-off qualification. Traveling to Bordeaux, Britlin was swept in just three mini-games (14/25; 9/25; 21/25). Even worse, Louise Narbonne’s teammates were unable to endanger the Girondins. They are currently in fifth place in the league, five points behind Évreux, who are currently in last place in the playoffs. Rennes will have to strive for success on the Clamart floor on January 14 in order to keep hope alive.
The Economic and Social Council overthrows the leader
On the men’s side, in a meeting that started poorly against Saint-Quentin, the leader of the French League Two, the second sporting group managed to turn the situation around to win (3-2). Not scrupulous at the beginning of the meeting, Philippe Toytoga’s partners managed to raise their game at key moments. A great early Christmas gift for Colette-Besson room fans who are used to disappointing results at home. Quentin Marion’s men remain at the bottom of the standings.
Sisson St Brieuc Elite insurance
At the lower level, Cesson Saint-Brieuc had trouble against Harnes. While the Costarmoricans had an easy lead after the first two rounds, they doubled up on errors allowing Pas-de-Calaisiens to get back into the game. It all came down to the decisive set, and then Adelso Gonçalves’ teammates showed their strength in overcoming the guests (3-2). The Briochins are currently fourth in the elite, but everything still needs to be done since the top five teams stand in a pocket square.
