After last year’s cancellations, New Year’s Eve festivities for the over-22s are back in full force.

If Christmas is supposed to be spent with the family in the warm glow of a fire after a hearty meal at home, then New Year’s Eve sparkles and hits the town.

Obviously, good food and drink are still important, but they are best enjoyed without dishes or a stove to work on. In addition to live music, it is difficult to leave the house in the middle of the night.

Here are all the Vancouver bars and restaurants that feature The Ritz and are offering special New Year’s Eve dinners and celebrations, some of them for the first time. Michelin starred set and Pepe Gourmando recommended.

Burdock and Co

Celebrate the New Year at this cute little Michelin-starred venue known for its exceptional use of seasonal, local ingredients. The six-course menu ($175 per person) ends, but the current Roots Collection Under a Cool Moon menu features dishes like Hazelmere Farm Sunchokes with bacon, mushroom-leek sauce, Heidi cream cheese, spiced chanterelles, and thyme and thyme dressed in elegant brioche snchokhi.

Reservations are now open and sites are filling up quickly; Vegetarian options are available upon request.


Archer hits Alberni Street with its first New Year’s Eve dinner, and the chefs have created a special seven-course dinner ($200) with optional wine pairings. Dishes include cauliflower steak, burgundy truffle steak, grilled s’more, and espresso chocolate tart. Seating begins at 8pm, and guests are welcome to continue and count down to midnight with a glass of champagne.

French chef Au Comptoir Alexandre Carrière prepared a four-course New Year’s Eve opening menu featuring tuna tartare with caviar, scallops, black truffle shavings, beef tenderloin and foie gras stuffed with quail. Tickets are $115 per person and seats are available from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.


A newcomer to western Georgia, the Nox hosts a five-course Italian West Coast dinner with surf and turf accompanied by live music from jazz pianist Jimmy James and bassist Brad Pearson. Tickets are $150 per person and include a welcome glass of bubbles. Wine pairings, curated by Wine Director Lucy Nahacka, are available to order with dinner for an additional $80, and a traditional cocktail wine list will also be available.


No New Year’s Eve is complete without champagne and L’Abattoir takes tradition very seriously. The decadent French restaurant on Gastown’s west coast has put together a multi-course dinner with optional Krug pairings. Trips will feature rare coffees not available locally alongside Chef Lee Cooper’s dishes such as baked oysters with black truffle and whipped garlic butter or smoked salmon with Ossetra caviar. Tickets are $383 per person with pairs and $165 without.


Guests have two dining options at Pourhouse on New Year’s Eve: the lounge and dining room. There is no set menu but new dishes from head chef Ece Fenerci will be served alongside specialty champagnes and as icing on the cake. 12 Days of Cocktails The menu popped up with a new drink each day as New Year’s Eve approached. Not to mention the live music starts at 7:30pm. A $75 deposit is required to hold but will be refunded upon arrival.

Soso Bar

At Bar Susu, New Year’s festivities can dine, celebrate, or both.

Chef Mark and his team have created a multi-course family menu that includes a welcome cocktail, wine and digestif to finish off the meal. $180 per person. Sommelier Britt has additional wines available for purchase by the bottle or by the bottle. After dinner, the party begins. From 11pm to 2am the DJ kicks in and wine and snacks flow. Concert tickets $125.

Anh and Chi

Two seasoned chefs come together at Anh and Chi’s Kitchen on Main Street to create two menus for New Year’s Eve. Chef Ly Nguyen and Chef Quang Dang teamed up to create a five-course ($150) and eight-course ($250) Vietnamese menu featuring pomelo, soft-shell crab, and smoked duck. Bib Gourmand will also feature live music by three local artists and, in addition to hosting sparkling wine director and sommelier Miguel Arais, will present natural wine pairings throughout the dining room by the glass or bottle. Instead, bar manager Caleb Lopez will have Anh and Chi’s signature refreshments.

The Michelin-starred restaurant that graced Maine’s New Year’s Eve dinner menu is a 10-course “multi-sensory” tasting menu by Executive Chef Joss Steffenhofer Brandson paired with wine pairings. Tickets are $400 per person, including tax and tip, and guests can add foie gras, truffles, and Canadian caviar if they’d like to eat.

Fanny Bay Oysters

Fanny Bay Oysters celebrate the New Year with a bottle of Moët and a dozen oysters for $150. Chef Tommy Shorthouse also added lobster Thermidor to his dinner menu for one night. Or, if people insist on celebrating in style at home, live lobsters will be put on the market for the month of December.


Glowbal Restuarant, the more glamorous sister of the Glowbal Group, is hosting a New Year’s Eve gala dinner. Tickets are $175 and include a glass of champagne and amuse-bouche caviar followed by chef Alex Kim’s three-course menu serving dishes such as A5 Japanese wagyu steak, Canadian lobster or s’mores and grilled scallops. Aerial artists from the Wine Fairy will perform over the top and when the dance floor opens at 11pm, DJ Cho Cha will take control and a robot made of lights will flash, and balloons will fall at midnight. Bottle service is also available from 10pm.


Riley’s four-course dinner at NYE that features festive classics like lobster thermidor and wagyu carpaccio could be improved with oyster and soul pairings. Special event tickets ($165) include a glass of champagne, live music and other performers, and a midnight balloon drop.

black + blue

New Year’s Eve is a tribute to old Hollywood glamor at Black + Blue this year. The dinner menu consists of four courses and guests can choose aged dishes such as Chicken Supreme and Alaskan Bread. There will be live entertainment from 7pm to 1am and guests will have a glass of bubbles and party favors at midnight. Folks can also upgrade their menu and have a bottle of Laurent Perrier Champagne and Osetra Caviar waiting for them when they arrive ($300).


Coast hosts the world’s lowest New Year’s Eve gala dinner. The three-course surf and turf menu is a la carte, but the $60 entry includes sparkling wine, live music from Adam Woodall’s band, free gifts, and a midnight balloon drop.

Straight and smooth

There will be a $60 fee for reservations made after 10:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve at Strait & Maru, but that will also include a bottle of sparkling wine to start 2023. The team serves food and drinks specifically for the occasion, including dashi oyster butter Poached white duck breast and rack of elk in chimichurri jus.

Main Street at Smitty’s Oyster House

Smitty’s Oyster House main street “Bubbles and Boards” offering is a great option for an affordable date (or double date). “Bubbles and Boards for Two” includes two cups of Spicy Lime Shrimp, a half rack of lamb and Burrata Lollipops for $80. Dinner is $150 per person or guests can book a New Year’s Eve package that includes dinner for two, one night at the nearby Plaza Hotel, parking, and breakfast the next morning for $499.


Located in the Shangri-La Hotel, Carlino serves dishes inspired by the Friuli region of northern Italy. On New Year’s Eve, seating between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. will be a regular menu, but later seating will feature a special NYE menu with entrees like chestnut bisque and butter-poached lobster or house-smoked arctic char and appetizers such as the skillet- Roasted Sea Bass with Grilled Artichokes and Lobster Tortellini or Signature Canadian Beef with Black Truffles. There is a $50 reservation fee, but reservations also get two free glasses of Prosecco.

Notch 8

Inside this Vancouver hotel, Notch8 cooks up a three-course dinner featuring tuna with divine northern caviar, beef brisket with foie gras, and more. Tickets are $129 ($64.50 for children) with live entertainment and a free cup of bubbles for a New Year’s toast.

Show restaurant and bar

Showcase Restaurant and Bar’s New Year’s Eve dinner consists of six courses for just $95. Starting with a truffle and mushroom tart and a glass of sparkling wine followed by a selection of oysters, prawns, apples, pressed pears and cava sorbet as a medium, mains include a selection of demi-rack of lamb and roasted sand. or chickpea pie. They even top it all off with a festive Christmas registry.

Provencal marinade
