The women’s team of En Avant Guingamp faced Rodez during the 11th day of D1 Arkema. Thanks to an interesting performance, the Costarmoricaines won (2-1) and at the same time came out of the red zone.

After obtaining their first success of the season last week against Soyaux (3-1), En Avant Guingamp traveled to Rodez for a decisive match. Indeed, the Occitanes who were in 11th position in D1 Arkema, only had a one-point lead over the Breton women before the match. This Saturday’s meeting therefore had everything of a direct duel for the maintenance. And it was Nina Richard’s teammates who offered themselves a big breath of fresh air.

A cannon start to the match

Like last week, Frédéric Biancalani’s daughters quickly took the lead. Following an excellent service from Aïssata Traoré, the inevitable Sarah Cambot left the Ruthenian goalkeeper no chance by opening the scoring (0-1, 7th). A few minutes later, the opposing players nevertheless benefited from a penalty following a foul in the box.

But Cindy Perrault relaxed perfectly to deflect Alexandria Lamontagne’s strike. The Costarmoricaines then put a new boost in order to make the break. And it was the excellent Aïssata Touré who doubled the lead with a powerful strike (0-2, 23rd). Everything seemed to be going for the best on the side of En Avant Guingamp when returning to the locker room.

Rodez dominates the second act

From the start of the second half, the Aveyronnaises showed a lot of desire to reduce the score. Cindy Perrault first pulled out all the stops against Alexandria Lamontagne before unfortunately giving in against Maude Antoine (1-2, 54th). The physiognomy of the meeting was reversed and the Guingampaises suffered more and more.

They offered many opportunities to the Ruthenoises by multiplying the delayed faults. The tension therefore rose in the Breton ranks since the locals seemed capable of equalizing at any time. But luckily the defense held out until the final whistle.

En Avant Guingamp leaves the red zone

Despite a nightmarish start to the season, Sarah Cambot and her partners have just come out of the red zone thanks to their victory against Rodez (2-1). They have a second success in a row, a first this season, which allows them to climb to 10th place in D1 Arkema. The Bretons will try to ride this beautiful wave of positive results against Le Havre (8th) on the next day of the Championship.
