The Sound of Music is on stage from 24 November to 24 December at Hamilton Family Theatre, Cambridge
The Hamilton Family Theater in Cambridge comes alive to the sound of music.
One of the most famous musicals in the history of theatre, sound of Musicand the Drayton Entertainment’s 2022 season will conclude with five weeks this holiday season from November 24th to December 24th.
The cast is joined by Sal Thompson from Cambridge, who plays Friedrich, one of the seven von Trapp children.
I watched sound of Music Before, with my mother. Thompson said.
“It was a lot of fun. And with my brothers and sisters on stage, it wasn’t like that, on stage. I really feel connected with all my Von Trapp buddies.”
The inspiring story, based on Maria Augusta Trapp’s memoir, follows budding nun Maria who leaves a convent to take control of Captain Von Trapp’s seven mischievous children.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s popular tracks contain such memorable songs as “My Favorite Things”, “Do Re Mi”, “Edelweiss”, “Climb Every Mountain” and “Sixteen Going on Seventeen”.

For Thompson, a ninth grader at Eastwood Collegiate Institute, the experience was unforgettable.
“Throughout the previews so far, it’s been amazing, and I love the audience,” he said.
“It’s an incredible experience. I have to say not only to write and direct the series, but the actors themselves have played their roles amazingly.”

Thompson is not new to the local theater scene.
“I’ve been doing this since I was four or five. I’ve been taking art and drama classes at Cambridge Arts Centre. Thompson said.
In the future, I just hope to do more acting.
First Broadway production sound of Music In November 1959 at the Lunt-Fontaine Theater. It has been nominated for nine Tony Awards, winning five, including Best Musical, Best Actress in a Musical and Best Scenic Design.
The play was later adapted into a musical in 1965 starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The film won five Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress in a Motion Picture.
Thompson says there’s a lot to look forward to after months of hard work and practice. Her favorite part of the experience was working with the theater community.
“I really like hanging out with like-minded people, and working with those who have more experience and have done more production,” said Thompson.
“I would love to continue doing that with Drayton Entertainment and continue acting and doing theater in general. It’s really incredible.”
